Pete Tong has announced a special broadcast of the Essential Selection from the annual Amsterdam Dance Event.

The Radio 1 mainstay will broadcast his show on October 20 from the Panama Club.

The show will provide the warm-up slot for appearances from Danny Howells and Bristolian bombshell Nick Warren.

'I really like what the ADE is doing, all the different club sounds, DJs and nights buzzing around the corner from each other,' said Tong.

'Holland has given rise to some of the best-known DJs and producers in the world and has made a big contribution to electronic music and club culture. We're just finalising the details now and I can’t wait to broadcast my Radio 1 show from there.'

A vast number of DJs and producers will descend upon the Dutch city from October 19 to 21.

Already confirmed are the likes of Tiefschwarz, Ashley Beedle, Carl Cox, Ricardo Villalobos, Martin Solveig and Sven Vath.

As well as performances and club nights, there are workshops and seminars across the city too.

Ibiza is still a key part of youth culture according to BBC Radio 1, who last week announced that they’ve increased their Ibiza broadcast schedule to one week.

The station is flying most of their dance DJs, as well as daytime presenters such as Zane Lowe, Vernon Kay, and Colin Murray & Edith Bowman for a whole week of broadcasts from Sunday 6th – Sunday 13th August.

The news will be seen as positive by many in the dance industry, as Radio 1’s commitment to Ibiza has increased dramatically.

This is the first time that Radio 1 has dedicated an entire week to Ibiza – previously the station has only ever sent broadcasts from the island over a weekend.

Pete Tong said: “Ibiza is still the number one destination for fans of dance and electronic music around the world and the Radio 1 week of parties will reflect the incredible diversity of music and entertainment that is available on the island.”

Dance Shows

Radio 1 DJs Pete Tong, Fergie, Dave Pearce, and Judge Jules will all host their dance shows from the island during the week.

Judge Jules said: "Radio 1 in Ibiza is something I always look forward to.

“There's a special atmosphere when Radio 1 broadcasts from the island, and I'll be delivering a mixture of tough and funky upfront tunes as always, but will definitely be adding a touch of Balearic flavour to the shows.

“For those listeners that can't make it out to the island itself, I'm aiming to bring a bit of Ibiza back into the UK."

Key Dance Moments

Jason Carter, Editor of Live Music at Radio 1 said: “Our Ibiza coverage is one of the key dance moments on Radio 1’s live events calendar and this year we will be extending our live coverage across a whole week to give the broadest reflection ever of what's going on from Ibiza.”

Special guest DJs will plays sets for Radio 1 whilst they’re on the island including John Digweed, Sven Vath, Mauro Picotto, Steve Lawler, Lisa Lashes, Groove Armada, and DJ Oliver.

Live broadcasts are planned from some of the island’s best club and club nights such as Cocoon, Judgement Sundays, Pure Pacha, Cream, Meganite, Space, and Ibiza Rocks.

Pete Tong will present his Essential Selection dance show live from Café Mambo every Friday night in August.
